The collaboration between Ib Andresen Industri and H. Daugaard is ‘strong as steel’

The initial collaboration between Ib Andresen Industri and H. Daugaard started as far back as the late 1960s. In 1994, H. Daugaard established itself at the Port of Vejle with offices and warehouses close to the dock – right next to Ib Andresen Industri’s production facilities. This laid the foundation for an even closer collaboration between Ib Andresen Industri and H. Daugaard.

Over the years, the collaboration has grown considerably, and H. Daugaard now functions as an integrated goods reception for 100% of Ib Andresen Industri’s goods in Vejle. Daugaard fullfils this function all year round, even when Ib Andresen Industri is closed for holidays during the summer or New Year.

Logistics and handling of steel

H. Daugaard unloads ships arriving in Vejle, Denmark, with steel coils. Rail wagons and trucks are unloaded, and all coils are checked and registered upon arrival regardless of the mode of transport. After the goods are received, they are stored in the various crane-operated warehouses that Ib Andresen Industri and H. Daugaard have at their disposal.

Over the years, several million tonnes of coils have been handled, so this collaboration is and has been ‘strong as steel’ from the start.

Once the coils have been cut into steel plates at Ib Andresen Industri, H. Daugaard often handles the transport from Vejle to the respective final destinations in Denmark and abroad, either by road, rail, or sea.

The road to a great collaboration

Ib Andresen Industri serves a wide range of customers – cutting or splitting steel coils—and it is crucial to have full traceability and correct registration of where the coils are located, as the right coil must be delivered quickly to the right production line for the end customer to receive the desired product.

The collaboration is based on trust and flexibility, and there has always been mutual involvement in the various operational processes.

There is a strong focus on continuously optimizing and improving processes – which, for instance, requires joint investments in equipment. While our direct customer is Ib Andresen Industri, our equally important task is to ensure that Ib Andresen Industri’s customers are satisfied with our logistics.

Statement from Jess Storm, Supply Chain Manager – Steel Service Centre at Ib Andresen Industri:

The collaboration is rooted in a deep understanding of Ib Andresen Industri’s operational processes. H. Daugaard has always been able to support these while offering various inputs within logistics. This has contributed positively to Ib Andresen Industri’s growth potential. We greatly value the collaboration.

Daugaard thanks Ib Andresen Industri for this trust, and we look forward to a continued inspiring and successful collaboration.

We are ready to help you!
