H. Daugaard receives award for creating sustainable jobs

Every year, ‘Social- og Arbejdsmarked Kolding’ (Social and Job Market Kolding) awards the ‘SammenomJOB’ (Creating Jobs Together) prize to companies that are creating sustainable jobs. H. Daugaard has now received the award, and we couldn’t be prouder. To be considered for the award, a company must fulfil three out of the five criteria below.

  1. Jobs for citizens on the margins of the labour market.
  2. Retention and prevention of sick leave.
  3. Jobs for refugees and immigrants.
  4. Upskilling and competence enhancement.
  5. More young people in vocational training.

At H. Daugaard, we meet not only three of the criteria – we meet all five.

The SammenomJOB award celebrates social responsibility, which helps to ensure that employees can stay in the labour market longer, and it also ensures diversity, which includes employees who need support and who work to prevent job dissatisfaction in the workplace.

The importance of social responsibility at H. Daugaard

At H. Daugaard’s warehouse in Vamdrup, 10% of our employees are people who have been on the margins of the labour market. This can be rooted in many different reasons – but we believe that with the right support and planning, these employees can be integrated into H. Daugaard. And our experience so far has been very positive. Jan, manager of our warehouse in Vamdrup, and Per, its chairman, says: ‘We can see the impact it has on these employees when they’re listened to and believed in. When employees are given a workday that is adapted to their individual needs, they’re given a successful experience in the labour market, and then they flourish – it’s a win-win.’

At H. Daugaard, we have the opportunity to help many different types of people find jobs at our warehouse because there are so many different types of tasks. For instance, there are tasks where not speaking Danish isn’t an obstacle. Examples of this are Olha and Natalia, who found work at our warehouse after fleeing the war in Ukraine. You can read more about their story here.

In the same way, not being able to work 37 hours a week isn’t an obstacle either. Nor is getting a senior scheme, where older workers are slowly phased out of their jobs to retire in the best way possible. In fact, most things are doable with the right understanding and planning.

As Jeanette from Jobcentre Kolding, who came to present the award, also stated: ‘Getting a job that’s adapted to the citizen shows the citizen that there is a place for them. Entering the labour market and gaining self-confidence and actually getting a pay cheque– that means a lot.’

Thank you for the award – we look forward to our continued work to create more sustainable jobs in 2024.
